I might mention that Ducati offer matched panels and liner bags as a matter of course. While ultimately my recent Multistrada V2S wasn't a keeper, I did like the completeness of the package. It's a pretty obvious hole in the Guzzi offering.

(Mind you, I did have to paint the lids of panniers and top case on my BMW R1200R 16 years ago - and cost was more than this job, even then. Thankfully, my BMW dealer took care of it for me.)

Hi Billy

Off to see Blacklocks in a couple of weeks , if all works out with the passenger peg extenders I be ordering a V100 on the spot and will also be spraying the bags ( probably will go for the Givi V37 panniers and will have the insert sprayed).
Was it Paul at "Redback Race Paint" in Fyshwick that did your paint job?

Hi Tony - I'm sure the team at Blacklocks will look after you as well as they looked after me. Besides Nico (Motorini Vespa dealer) they were about the most pleasant experience of my (long) moto career. (I'm sure you're aware they are a bit out of the main centre of Albury - there are a couple of motels with a 10-15 minute walk but the closest decent espresso is all the way into town ... )

My painter was Edward Gonsior who has a small paint shop in Queanbeyan. He's a solo painter who doesn't advertise (he's been in the trade 40 years) - my Vespa dealer put me onto him. My Alfa repairer (long story) suggested Redback - I gather they have a great reputation, but I haven't used them.

You said you have the Comfort heated seat, then say you have a custom heated seat ?
Does this mean you had the Guzzi accessory seat recovered in brown?

At delivery I purchased a black heated comfort Guzzi seat. They only come in Black and I didn’t find much comfort in it. If you want heat and comfort in a Brown seat you have to go custom. The heat Element was purchased from Sargent, and I had the original seat pan reupholstered in brown. My daughter put 1000 miles on day one of our trip to Alaska and a total of 10,200 for the trip in 30 days.

I’m impressed, and it tells me that my 750 miles on one day can be extended with kept comfort, even for passenger.

I'm well aware that Guzzi doesn't make a brown Comfort seat, as I've emailed their customer service twice about that oversight.
The first reply gave a glimmer of hope, the second did not. :(
I'm tempted to get the Guzzi Tall Comfort seat, and have it recovered but there's really no one near where I live that I'd trust to do it correctly. Living in the mountains on WNC has its advantages, but a lot of qualified craftsmen isn't one of them.
 
Is there no one in your area who can use the original seat and replace the original foam with a gel insert? Makes a huge difference but if there's no one local it's not really practical.

I'm sorry I misstated the mileage. Longview to Dever is 926 miles. My point was the seat is custom, brown, heated and comfortable. This seat is still on the bike today.

I went to Guzzi customer service for a brown seat also. I asked any information on upholstery or can I purchase a heating element. No, sorry they replied. The bike comes with a brown seat and provisions for heat, but Guzzi can't sell a brown heated seat front or rear or any heating elements so the customer can keep the brown seat. I don't understand Guzzi's position on this one. RDL gave me a name of the material they thought was on the bike, but I haven't had time to confirm that the information is correct. I had to change the seat before we left on our Alaska trip. I check with everybody I could find online, but no one could provide a replacement or rework my seat before we left in a few weeks. I went to a local auto upholstery shop thinking what do I have to lose but a little money. That shop put some comfort into the seat and installed the heat element I provided them. The cover isn't a perfect match, but it's close.
 
Just fitted some after-market adjustable levers that fold in case of a spill.

That's a pretty handy solution. I'll have see what I can scrounge up and do something similar. Don't suppose I could trouble you for approximate dimensions.? I'm not at home at the moment but have access to a workshop and a machinist. Might get something knocked up with thin stainless plate.
 
Gents, please be aware that the more crap you put in front of the engine, the less airflow that goes over the motor to assist in cooling it.

I keep seeing motorcycles with covers over the radiator reducing airflow on it, then covers all around the engine, again reducing airflow, and now this.

If you encapsulate the engine with all of this stuff, the engine is going to run significantly hotter. Reduced airflow means less heat being pulled off of the motorcycle.

If you live in a temperate climate, this may not be much issue, however if you live in a hot climate, this can be a significant issue.

Caveat emptor.
 
@Kevin.NZ - Did you remove your horn, or is it behind the shield?

@South Westerly - I seem to recall another post here on the forum with a shield template that someone provided, based on one the poster made.

@scottmastrocinque - I had the same concern when I purchased a radiator guard (wondering if it would affect cooling). All I can say is, I rode 5K miles last summer/season, including a couple multi-day trips across central KY in blistering heat (my temp readout hit 96). I, myself got really hot riding in the sun, but the bike didn’t. Temp gauge remained in the safe zone. I will credit Guzzi with their first water cooled engine - it does the job from what I’ve seen. That said, I do agree that airflow is a good thing! Cheers!
 
Got the tall heated comfort seat now along with the pillion, just giving it a wash down after a run out over the peak district and to the Avro Heritage centre to go play with a Vulcan, via salt encrusted roads and temperatures hovering around 2 Celsius.

Seats are very comfy, and the extra height works for me just taking that little bit of knee bend out, and canting me forward a couple of degrees to the bars.

The heat is superb, they should get the guy who does the seats to do the grips as the grips are pathetic :) As mentioned in a post above, they only come in black, I am considering sending them off to a local specialist and just getting them recovered in brown Alcantara, just waiting on the price coming back for that, but in reality, because of the black wheels, the seats don't look out of place.

I've just done the dual horn mod after making a splitter harness up, and over the next few weeks I'm going to be setting up a Chigee AIO Lite system, for Carplay / Nav / front and rear camera and blind spot detection (But I've only got one eye ........so that's handy :) )

Mesh jackets are unbelievably cool in the summer. I forget the technical name for it but it's a venturi effect just like the air passing through a carburetor. This I suspect while moving the radiator grille is actually better at cooling.

Its about 200x200mm. the great thing is the shape of the curves of the old oil container keep it firm.
