V100 Mods thread

I ordered the OEM radiator protector (part number 2B012095), that I believe will be fitted as standard on next year's Mandello. It took about a week to arrive at the dealer's. Cost 41 euros.

Straightforward to fit, using the original bolts. It wasn't clear to me how the bracket detached from the bottom of the radiator, but you just need to prise it off downwards, then fit the protector, bottom first, and reinstall the bracket and bolts.

Also fitted my Barkbuster Blizzards to the handlebars, ready for winter.

Picked up mine a couple days ago. Loving it so far. (only 80 miles on the clock, so,...)

Comments and first impressions? A few negatives first.

For me , at least, definitely NOT an all day saddle. Gonna give an Air Hawk a try for a while before I decide on a saddle rebuild.

Disappointing that no radiator guard was included. A couple well known aftermarket suppliers offer one, make nice ones, but on backorder most places. If you search carefully, you *may* find one.

Topcase is made by Shad, (not HB or GIVI, or OEM) and does NOT quick-release, a little shabby for a top of the line bike. Still, the topcase is the one luggage piece I rarely remove, so, for me,not a biggie.

Screen is too small for effective airflow management. Anyone have experience with the Guzzi-offered "Touring Screen? Claimed increase of 35% size. That doesn't sound like much to me, so I may wait for the aftermarket to catch up before investing.
With you on the saddle. I've ordered their comfort heated seat but the bike's in storage so I won't know until next season how it is.

Replying to myself to comment that, after careful measurement (and reviewing my original order invoice--DOHHH!) that my Mandello is *already* wearing the touring screen, and, yes, it provides *modest* increased. Biondi and PowerBronze both offer a taller touring screen (approx 22"H x 15"W overall rather than 17"H x 14"W overall for the MG touring screen) I'll probably try to source one of those, possibly the Biondi, and see how it goes. (Both are also SUBSTaNTIALLY less in cost than the MG offering...)

To be continued... ;)
Hi John, for what its worth I'm 170cm or ~5'6", I bought the Biondi touring screen, note it's only 3mm thick and not the 4mm that the MG one is. I found better results with the original that comes standard and clipped on a smaller one on top of it, this has the effect of pushing the airflow higher up than the touring screen.
I have the "Biondi" on order. No idea when it will arrive here in SW Ohio. Agree the stock windscreen offers little protection. Hoping the "Biondi" will be satisfactory. Had my first service. Bike shifter is beginning to work better. Still "clunks" if I hurry the shifts between 1 & 2 and 2&3. No issues with the bike whatsoever. Though a couple of riding friends have had issues with both the standard (red) and "S" (green).

They look good. I never know whether I like the clam shell or the top load. The clam shell kinda dispenses the necessary items along with the unnecessary ones. Or you can physically unload until you get to what you want.

Anyhow, looks very stylish with the V100s. Good choice.

All the hard panniers that I have owned are all side/clam shell type. My soft panniers for my ADV bikes are top load. I find that much more convenient. I carry mostly tools/water bottles (ie, heavy stuff) in my panniers and with the side loading, all wants to fall out. I'm glad to see that the Shad are top loading.

I've switched out my luggage from the SW-Motech Blaze saddlebags to SHAD, so got a couple of SH-23 Panniers and a SHAD topbox with fitting kit, just the perfect amount of space for solo travels, and they were a VERY happy price here in the U.K.

How would you characterize the capacity between the Blaze and the Shad? Numerically they are similar. I have Blaze on another bike and as they are soft, they stretch out when packed to capacity, unlike hard bags. thx

I can probably fit a little more in the Shads with careful packing and a little brute force :) I've made the switch in many ways for a little extra security as next year I'm heading out for a month or so around Eastern Europe, and will be off the bike plenty walking around some of the sites / POI's I'm factoring in.

I had locks for the blazes and used a steelcore cable to secure them if wandering away from the bike for any length of time, but was always a bit "twitchy", not that I've ever had ANYTHING touched while in Europe / Eastern Europe in the past, unlike here in the U.K. where they'd have the fillings out of your teeth in some area's if you stood still long enough :)

I've got Kriega OS's on my Aprilia Tuareg with the OS Base, I'd really like a Mosko Rackless, but importing one to the U.K. kills it price wise after the Brexit poop show.

I'll let you know how things go with them, they seem well constructed, the top box and panniers use the same key and lock down to the bike really securely.

Back to an old topic of the rear hugger
I tried this today, I purchased a rear hugger extension for a Ducati Multistrada V4S off of ‘Ali Barber’ and one of his 40 thief’s 😂
I fitted it with the double sided pads only, I looked at it for about two hours decided I didn’t like the look of it and then promptly removed it.
So don’t try this at home unless you think you can live with the looks.
Ride safe all.

How do you power the XT on that setup . Thks
I tapped into the power for the USB socket in the dash - I don't have the USB socket installed, but rather used that wiring to power the XT and the space inside the dash to store the small power block that the Garmin power supply has (I used industrial strength velcro to hold it in place). For a quick install, I just used positaps to get it all to work, but this is a good reminder that I wanted to install the correct connector on the Garmin power supply so that I can plug it into the USB power supply. I'll add that to my list of work for when it warms up to avoid my normal 'Nothing as permanent as a temporary fix' state :)

Happy to take pictures if it helps.

Many thanks that would be great.

I needed a small storage for my rain pants and jacket, I already have a small H&B rack, so when I found a small bag at home i got the idea, I made an anchoring plate with my 3D printer, 3 stripes of velcro (then replaced by zip ties) and here it is. Now I have rain gear always with me

Here are a few pictures. I did not open the panel with the USB port as it is ~20 degrees F in my garage right now and I didn't want to disassemble things :-). Hopefully these picture help show my install.

1. USB Panel on the dash

This is the panel behind which I tapped into the USB power wires from the bike and installed the power block for my Garmin XT.

2. This is my GPS mount

You can see the power cable going along the left side of the bracket

Then

3. Down behind the panel with the USB mount

4. This last one is hard to see, but I have a screwdriver pointing at the power supply for the XT behind the panel. I have it fixed back there with industrial strength Velcro. With the power supply behind it, the panel is slightly more out than stock, but not by much.
