I saw that report also and have a lot of doubts about that increase.

@GTM - do the 21s have the same ECM? Is the ECM what controls the modes?

Yeah, I'll have to ride it and see, although the person making the comment said he has had 2 previous ones to compare it to. So I guess we will just have to wait and see if his perceptions were correct. I hope so.

All of this does make me wonder if the 2021 ECU updates (mapping, ride modes, gear shift, etc) will be available as an update for the earlier models.

The real answer will live in the part #'s of the cams, otherwise, ECU wise, yes... that would be an easy one now that I have access to the ECU (finally).

Put my deposit down on a V85TT Centenario today.
I... CANNOT... WAIT! (but I have no choice but to wait for now).
Sounds like April/May is when they are expected to start showing up at US dealers.

Apparently, there is now an Urban top box that matches the panniers. Not sure exactly when it became available, but it must have been recently. (from guzzistore.com):

The '21 models use the 11MP ECU, found on some Aprilia models, like the latest RSV4 and RS660.

Is this one of those things that is good/bad/indifferent for those of us who have the 20s?

I purchased a Centenario last Tuesday and the gear indicator does work with the clutch in or out and with engine running or not as long as the ignition is on. The owner manual still says that it displays gear position only with engine running and moving. The engine does have good low and midrange torque, but I cannot say how it compares to earlier models because I have not ridden any 2020’s.

I've ridden both. The 21 has more grunt down low. Noticeable difference. Torque comes on more like my V7. Not big enough to prevent me from buying a 20. the 20 I rode was the Adventure and the 21 the travel. I will say I much prefer the shorter adventure windscreen. And I will likely move to tubeless tires once I put some wear on the current tubed tires.

I should be picking up my 2021 Travel in a couple of weeks. It’s at the dealer and I can’t wait to pick it up!

As far as I can determine (from reading the pre-2021 V85TT service manual, #2Q000400), both 5th speed (0.96 ratio) and 6th speed (0.888 ratio) are technically overdrive.

I think you need to take into consideration primary and final drive ratios as well. However, even then, I don't think it's necessarily that simple. Ultimately, what is desired is a bike that will cruise at relatively high speed, but low RPM.

Yes, and the tire size as well, to calculate the revs/mi figure. But, as I said, the gearbox itself technically has 2 overdrive ratios.

5&6 are very close in RPM. At altitude in the mountains there are times when 5 is fine but 6 is too tall.

Interesting, the gear indicator on the 2021 Stone only seems to work when the bike is rolling and the clutch is engaged.
