V35 Imola 1980, poor very low and hight midrange

Hi everybody, first excuse me for my English that is poor (like Imola midrange? :) I would like to have your opinion on my bike, as here in Italy I could not get any serious info.... I recently got the bike, with around 25000 miles and 10 years stopping, that needed some work on it to get on...

    Brake bleeding issue

Sorry but pushing the pistons in does do something. It sends the fluid in the system back to the MC, where it can be extracted using Scotts technique. I was in no way suggesting that you shouldn't strip and rebuild calipers or replace them if needed. However, following that, the less air that...

    California 1400 rear brake seized

If you had steam (really it would be “condensed water vapor” as steam is invisible) then you had contaminated brake fluid to begin with.In the process of the entire assembly getting superheated, all bets are off. The master cylinder piston was never designed to deal with boiling fluids and...

Help 2013 V7 stone Brake Bleed that won't bleed.

I completely understand “res” and its meaning. I have wrenched professionally on motorcycles for more than 40 years. I just retired recently.Your original statements were incomplete and confusing.By cracking open the banjo bolt, you have put air all the way down at the pump/piston itself...

    2014 Stelvio, rear caliper problems

The pistons are 28MM I didn't know if there were dust boots or not. the pads where fried so I have an extra set of pads to install. The pistons look to be in pretty good shape and are now sliding in and out pretty freely using air to move them. I'll see if they will work without leaking...

    2014 Stelvio, rear caliper problems

Thanks guys. If you tried a search at all, you'd quickly see that Brembo does not sell rebuild kits via any U.S. dealer. The rear caliper is made for Guzzi, so it will make things even more difficult. If you want to take it apart and post some measurements, I can try to be of help. Otherwise, I...

    2014 Stelvio, rear caliper problems

Taking my bike out of storage and a friend drove it back to my home for me, about a mile when he pulled into the garage he said the rear brake seemed to lock up and no pedal travel, brake was smoking hot when he pulled into the garage. Today I pulled the rear caliper and the pads are fried and...

Front brake issue on my '98 EV1100

Vagrant, I just saw in my email that I had gotten an update on this post. Wow. That is what I needed to know! Just never having done this (on this bike) not something I knew all the details on. Thank you for paring this down to exact process for me. I really appreciate it. One last question...

Front brake issue on my '98 EV1100

Get a new can of Dot 4. Pull the top cover off and wash the cap, rubber and plastic spacer with brake cleaner. Use a syringe, turkey baster to suck out the old fluid and flush with new fluid. Fill 2/3 full with new fluid, find a clear hose to put on the bleeder, open bleeder a turn and let...

GTM (Todd?), Thank you for the guidance. I will start working on this shortly.Bill

Front brake issue on my '98 EV1100

Flush and bleed all of the brakes. Your bike has linked brakes, so the front brake lever only actuates one front caliper. I think Steve is on point with the low fluid and air. I would *thoroughly* inspect and flush the system. Rebuild kits are not available in the U.S., only replacements. Click...

    New Potential Owner

Hi. I'm an experienced MC rider of 40 years, but have never ventured into the Moto Guzzi world. I have an opportunity to buy a 1997 California anniversary model (number 719 of 750). This bike has set for 10 years since last licensed for the road. Side covers are missing, turn signal stalks...

Wheel Spin - Is this Normal or ?

Please don't reference that software and you will get no support using it here. See https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/guzzidiag-notice.16329/ If you balance the throttle bodies the TPS must be reset electronically.

Wheel Spin - Is this Normal or ?

I am going to call it done as I can get about a full spin out of the wheel after cleaning the caliper pistons, even as two fell out and I replaced them and bled the system. Front dis it gets equally as hot as the rear disk.. I'm thinking it is just the nature of a 15 year old, 48,000+ mile...

Wheel Spin - Is this Normal or ?

...to apply pressure to inner walls to pull out I am hoping without damaging the piston. lubing pistons with a bit of Dot 4. Hopefully that is all that is needed or else I will be buying and using my first caliper rebuild kit.. I;ve already cleaned them all once but apparently not well enough.

Wheel Spin - Is this Normal or ?

Does the wheel spin free? There will be some drag from the pads. If you didn't add brake fluid, there shouldn't be an excess. Are you able to push back both pads on one caliper? If so the return port on the master is functioning. Hard to diagnose via the internet. Is there a mechanic in...

    Workshop manual

No manual will tell you how to rebuild a caliper. That is something trained mechanics perform. That said, Brembo calipers are pretty straight forward. Once you get the rebuild kits it is pretty simple to do.

    Fork options for Stelvio

...get to work out a little! But a motociclismo named after a famed mountain pass should be able to handle that!!! Anyway, I found a Caliper rebuild kit in Jolly ol Britain and sprung for another set of the admittedly cheaper 4mm GTM rotors, well this lasted about another 3 or 4k miles and I'm...

    Front Brake Caliper Sticking

Thanks, I will be opening up master cylinder next. Any impact that ABS module could be culprit?

    Front Brake Caliper Sticking

That’s because it’s not a caliper issue but rather perhaps a master cylinder issue. One of 2 possible issues.1. Reservoir is OVERFILLED, therefore not allowing fluid to bleed back from the calipers. Check this first.2. Check valve in the master cylinder is no longer functioning and is not...
