V100 Mods thread

Did you purchase the larger windscreen from MG? If so, would you mind posting a comparison picture. I'm still trying to figure out which one I want to get for touring in the spring.

Yes, I did purchase the larger screen on delivery. Guzzi claims the optional screen is 22% larger. I believe a lot of that is in width. I am 6’2 with the majority of my height in my torso. I can only send you a pic of the larger screen as mine was purchased with it. If you plan on doing touring with the bike my suggestion would be this. Save yourself $300 and get an aftermarket touring screen. Even with my clip-on I get helmet buffeting. I'm monitoring other riders on this site to see what they come up with.

Changed my mind over the top box and have gone now for an SW-Motech Urban DHV that fits directly to the street rack, and weighs next to nothing.

Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like it, and it will be perfect for what I need. I’ve also got Motech Blaze Pro saddle bags arriving over the weekend, as I couldn’t bring myself to spend the cash on the Guzzi panniers as after checking them out, they fit great, but they are pretty flimsy (sorry pannier owners) for almost a grands worth of cash.

Maybe I will change my mind again at some point, or see what comes along second hand, but for now, the Blaze Pros will do the job nicely.

I’ve also fitted a Carpe Iter Adventure controller to use to control the S20Ultra I use for nav and tunes. The first time I’ve ever bought a Bluetooth “gadget” that lives up to everything the manufacturer claims, it’s flawless in its operation, meaning I can control the phone, maps, navigation from the controller without messing about with taking gloves off etc.

Here’s the top box, and the controller fitted

I've not seen that little top box before. I like it, but it seems expensive. Usual story for motorbike stuff :(

I managed to cut a deal and got the full Blaze saddlebag kit and the top box for £450 delivered, but you are right, it is pretty expensive for a semi rigid box. It is well made, everything fit's with precision, and they supply the padlock as part of the kit to. I guess it's life with Bike kit and bike gear.

There is a Givi lightweight option, but that also needs an additional plate on my street rack, so starts to look a bit to cumbersome.

I sorted my V100 out over the summer in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Southwestern Colorado. I've invested in handguards, bar-risers, a tank bag, full OEM luggage (top box not pictured here) and a touring screen which have transformed it into the ultimate sport tourer. I've owned 30 motorcycles to date, and this is my all-time favorite!
What windscreen did you end up getting?

I also purchased the larger MG screen when I took delivery and it does very little to improve the airflow when touring at speed. I also have the little Puig lip spoiler piece and my experience mirrors yours. I think I might try the Givi screen listed above if I can find one in stock somewhere. I really wanted to use the Guzzi for more long distance touring instead of my bigger bike and the last detail I need to sort out is the screen.

We (GTMC) are a Givi dealer. We can get anything they offer. Problem in the past is we cannot compete with big box Stores with free shipping and related, and when people want to return things or simply dispute the charge, which happens more often than not these days, we lose BIG. So we gave up and pulled all Givi products off the site.
If you strike out in locating one, ping us via email; Sales @GTMotoCycles.com
The V100 owners, being new to this site, seem to be coming from other Forums and social media pages, and are ignoring the basic requests outlined at the top of every page above.

From Givi USA… “There are 2 screens on order, but no ETA…that’ll make it mid-February at best. Same with the other parts offerings for the V100.”

I installed the Biondi Touring (mid size) yesterday on my V100. I'm 5'7" and I think this should be just about perfect. The stock screen wasn't too bad, but at 70 MPH and the screen elevated I was still getting some wind on the helmet. I have a short ride on Friday planned so we'll see if creates a bit better pocket while riding.

Very interested in hearing your impressions.

BTW how tall are you? This information is always helpful with windshield opinions. 👌👍😁

I have the same biondi screen (55 cm) and my feedback is positive, not too bad looking but GT style wind protection

I have inverted my screen, all the bolt holes line up perfectly. It makes for a more comfortable ride, its not lower but presents a much smaller profile to the air and the "lip" is now at the bottom, I'm 1.7m tall.

Nope, I think he just missed it. @scottmastrocinque , see above

Ugh…

Sorry. For the last few days I have been afflicted with the “fungus among us” by my oldest son.

I NEVER get a cold or general sickness. Not me.

When I do get something, it’s major and I always land in a hospital.

However my throat has been really rough and my head is congested to the nines. Winter cold it seems.

So I lie in bed and try and sleep and read. Obviously, not very well at either at the moment.

Apologies for the oversight.

Never underestimate the power of Old Italian Grandmothers!

My Nonna has been dead many decades now but I remember her so fondly and would do anything to have her back in my life. I made a very simple pasta dish last night with Acini de pepe pasta, sausage, cream, cheese and a lot of Calabrian hot peppers. As hot as I could stand it. Woke up this morning, head completely clear and feeling remarkably better. Nonna was right. It worked. :)

I would like to hear more as much as possible about what those of you that have changed your screens what you are experiencing. I have the stock screen and as reported I have no buffeting but I get a lot of wind at the helmet level. It creates quite a bit of excess pressure and a lot of helmet noise and yes I wear earplugs. I have ridden mainly naked bikes as I have not found one windshield that doesn't create buffeting except one. I have tried several and even modified some with no satisfactory results. As I said the stock V100 is the best so far and I find with the screen up a little less then half way to be the best. I haven't tried a deflector yet, the one In have is a cheap Chinese one and is essentially worthless. However looking at the shield in pictures of the up and coming Stelvio might be a big improvement. All thought and ideas welcomed. The weather looks good for today so I may try the upside down thing. The only setup that ever worked for me is below, not my bike but I had the same setup. Worked good in Colorado but not in hot Cali.james_duncan4_IMG_0519_zps0655ee96.webp

Initial impressions after 40 minutes of riding is a much better rider pocket and no helmet buffeting. When fully extended (up), the top of the screen is nearly in line with the bottom of my helmet. It does seem to have a bit more air noise moving around the side of my head, but I did not put earplugs in today, so it may just be a "normal" amount of noise for either screen. The fully retracted (down) position still provides some airflow which I imagine could be good on a hot day or for lower speed (less than 45 MPH). I'm excited to try it out in a bit warmer temperatures and a longer trip to see what I think.

See you bought your bike the same place I got mine. Better time of year though! Can I ask how you wired up your TomTom and where you mounted it as the handle bars look a bit crowded? Thanks.
