V100 Mods thread

If that's an engine guard from SW-Motech, does it need to come off for oil changes?
Got a SW_ Motech guard on my V100 , whilst you can access the drain plug , you do have to remove the guard to change the filter. I believe the same also applies to guards from Hepco Becker & Dbk. I think the Pyramid Plastics offering doesnt have to be removed to change filter

I got the same engine guard in aluminum color, and the mechanic didn’t mention it when the bike was in for service earlier this spring.
And I fastened it securely with Loctite as described in the instructions.
So I guess it is not in the way for normal maintenance.
It looks very similar to the one I was considering, in silver, but there wasn't a clear picture of the underside on the maker's web site. It does seem to offer some of the best coverage compared to some others I've looked at.

Yes I agree about the coverage.
That’s why I bought it, plus in aluminum it is very discrete.

I love it.
I have decided to go back to this one instead of the Hepco. It preserves the "V" shaped silhouette instead of hanging a huge square under the engine.
I guess I had to try everything before I realized what I preferred.

What did you do to add those mirrors? New weights? etc?? Vibration??
I had the 7/8 “ converters from another bike laying around and I just used longer bolts. So it was super easy. I’m experiencing zero issues from vibration.

It’s nice to see what other owners have done to their bikes!

I think the biggest improvement for me is the Agostini header. The heat coming off the catalytic converter was annoying to me if I rode without full length boots (around town I often ride with shorter boots) and I really only wanted to reduce the extreme heat especially noticable on the right side of the bike. The header has reduced it significantly, while also makimg the exhaust note throatier (but not loud), and it shaved weight, too! I’m guessing 10 or 12 pounds. I reused the OE muffler. I did have to trim about 35mm off the end of the collector to make the OE muffler hang on its bracket, but I think that’s because a swell inside the muffler created during its welding wouldn’t let it slip as deeply onto the collecter as Ago intended. I know many of you who are subject to emissions inspections can’t do this, but f you’re not I believe it is money well spent. I also used an Upmap to account for the new header, as PADS won’t allow us to modify fueling in any way.

I added the tall comfort seat (heated and gives a little more leg room. I’m 6’ tall), a touring windscreen, heated grips, quick shifter, and bluetooth media package.

I never intend to use luggage, so I’ve thought about reworking the rear of the bike a bit for better aesthetics. I think I can order a pair of new rear side covers and have a body guy fill the bag mounting pockets and the grab rail cutouts. Then I can fabricate a nice aluminum tail tidy kit and powder coat it black and really clean up the rear of the bike a bit. Finally, R&G make a muffler hanger so the passenger footpeg brackets can go away (I never ride with a passenger) and the tail looks clean and tidy. Any thoughts?

The obvious question on exhaust is how much louder is it? Which map did you use from upMap? Is there a difference in throttle response?

Thread dedicated to UpMap Q&A below. I have a V100 in my shop that will go full stock to full Ago system next week. I’ll post dyno videos and comment on sound then. There is a YouTube’r video on sound comparison if you Google it.

I have both adapters and the mirrors on the online STORE.

I used the UpMap for the GCorse header system with stock muffler. It pops a little on decel, but nothing annoying. It is throatier, but only a little louder than OE, and the heat is noticably diminished!

I’ll be dyno-documenting the changes here next week.

- Im colour matching the wheels to headers, the black even though is stunning thought it would match better.
- waiting on the side panniers (OEM)
- PPF and ceramic coating
- considering an engine guard, short listed the one offered by Mistral Specialist Parts in raw aluminium
- will run OEM exhaust until 1st service and then maybe change to a Mistral

Having just gotten my Mandello S I went to check the oil level the other day and found the dipstick to be really stiff... It turns out that it had been cross-threaded and when I tried to put it back in I managed to properly mangle the plastic threads...

Is there a metal replacement available anywhere at all?

I would get another plastic dip stick a metal one has more chance of messing up the engine cases if it’s put in cross threaded. Ride safe everyone.

I had the same problem the first time I checked my oil. I bought a replacement plastic one from the dealer.

I fitted a metal replacement to my V11 Sport Ballabio a few years back as the standard plastic one was looking and feeling a bit secondhand. It fitted better and I never had any issues with cross-threading it.

It did get rather hot when checking the oil after a ride though ;)

And finally my Italian Mistress all done with its mods and customisation :)
3 weeks now after delivery and 1st service done.
- Panniers top cover paint matched to Verde
- Mistral Radiator Guard
- V100 badge on radiator guard paint matched to header
- Stock wheels paint matched to header
- Mistral Header guards
- PPF and Ceramic coated all non plastic parts
