I use two-part epoxy glue on mine. Just be sure to rough-up the mating surfaces with sandpaper before gluing. Use several clamps to hold the pieces together until the glue sets.I thought about that too. I just don`t have a glue () what kind a glue should use and the selection is probably different in every country. Of course mechanical attachment would be nice safety backup but no way I´m going to drill the stock fender. Worst thing that could happen is that the extension drops under the rear tire and just flews away. I don`t think it could cause lost of control or anything.
Here in Ireland we have a variety. One is called "no more nails", but I used "Tec 7" - comes in a variety of colours and transparent and is waterproof. As above I took the front off and clamped overnight. Rock solid.I thought about that too. Interesting. I went a similar route by installing Mistral shorties with DB killers in, a Mistral velocity stack, and a DNA air filter, but unlike you I noticed a definite performance improvement while still running the OEM map. However, I also noticed about a 2 mpg gain which suggested the upgrades made the bike run even leaner than the already too lean A/F ratio the stock setup delivered, thereby potentially harming the engine. Using UpMap to install the correct map for my setup provided even crisper response while also smoothing things out at lower speeds, making the bike much more fun. It also dropped my mpg from around 55-57 to around 48-50, so hopefully the A/F ratio is at a level that's better for the engine.I just finished my last mod on my V7 850 special: a remap using UpMap. With Agustini short pipes (DB killers in) and the KN air filter installed, my bike now runs very smoothly.
Before remapping, riding my motorcycle was very uncomfortable after I changed the exhaust pipes. When cold starting, the engine would idle roughly for up to half a minute, and if you throttle up during this time, it would cause the engine to stall. Without throttling, the motorcycle would jerk forward when the clutch is in. The loss of low-end torque was serious, and acceleration slowed until the engine reached ~3500 RPM.
After remapping, there is no rough idling after a cold start and no jerking sensation when idling in gear. The low-end torque is back, and now I can smoothly feel the motorcycle's acceleration between ~1200 and ~3000 RPM.
