• Ciao Guest, The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com lost his home completely on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. You can find more info on a post named L.A. Wildfires in the USA section. Our heart and best go out to everyone in this horrific disaster.

V7-850 Mods Thread

Does anyone have access to the part numbers for the Euro spec Moto Guzzi OE LED turn signals that did not make it to the USA model? I have only been able to find a parts catalog for the USA models and am interested in switching specifically to those LED turn signals.
The European spec indicators and back light are a lot smaller than the US spec ones. I will be looking at getting the rear light shell copied in polished alloy during the winter as it will look cool on my V7 850 Special. Just to clarify I live in the UK. The smaller Euro back light is very smart and unique in its looks, but is made from cheap and flimsy plastic. So if I can find someone to machine an alloy copy then that will be sweet.

The only way you will get ABS on a V7 bleed is to remove the rear caliper and get it higher than the ABS system.
Yupp. Same issue with Ducati as well. Was beating myself. Went on the forum and was told to simply flip the caliper so that the bleeder was upright and higher than the master/abs. Voila firm-ass rear brakes.

I just ordered a Moto Guzzi OEM touring screen for my V7-850 Stone. I currently have a SpitFire universal screen.

The SpitFire is a universal screen that uses two handlebar clamps and two points of attachment on the windscreen itself.

A couple of things that I haven't liked about the SpitFire. Firstly, it vibrates way too much. It also won't stay put. I just moves around. I ended up putting some kitchen no-slip liner in the bar clamps, replacing the thumb skews with bolts, and putting blue locktite on everything. However, the final straw is that with under 1,000 miles on it, it is already starting to crack at the mounting points.

It was cheap, as far as motorcycle windscreens go, but it did not fit my purpose. I also think the pictures of the OEM screen look better.

From a recent ride to the south coast for a photorally point in Wexford.
Those are the Guzzi Flat(ter) sports bar.

Todays Tinkering.

I found myself in a bit of a quandary. I wanted a method of carrying a bit, such as stopping at the grocery after work, but I didn't want the look, or expense, of big panniers. I just didn't want them on the bike all the time. On my eBike I use wald folding baskets and I faintly recall having them on my Honda Passport (what they called the cub in the US market in the early 80s).

I decided to give them a try on my V7. They are not ideal and I already see something that I can improve (. . . One of life's general rules. No matter what it is, if you can't see something to improve, you are not looking hard enough). However, they fold out of the way and are not rattling. Yes, a bit dorky, but I mentioned having a Honda Passport, that identifies me as old enough to not be too bothered by dorky.

Hi all! Just got a V7 850 Stone (Arancione Rame) which I'll pick up on Saturday 12/3. I have a few accessories questions.

1. Is the MIA platform available for the 850 Stone and if so is anyone using it?
2. Are engine guards a good idea, and are the three options the OEM Guzzi guards, Givi, and Hepco & Becker? Givis are far cheaper and look like you could mount highway pegs. Any reason to spend more than twice as much on the Hepco & Beckers? Has anyone mounted highway pegs?
