V100 Mods thread

Everybody has to ride their own ride but are these things really that comfortable?

It could be like being carried by angels and I just don’t think I could do that to one of my motorcycles.

It’s just God awful ugly 🤮 and in truth, it reminds me of those faux fur ridiculous shaggy toilet seat covers that were popular in the 70’s. 😵‍💫

My shaggy toilet seat cover has arrived !!! 😎

Also GIVI tanklock bag, OEM Norge windscreen, and a front fender extension.

I'm thinking next a top case mount and using a Pelican case for the top case..

LOL. I like the darker color better than mine.
Hey (and MGrego), about how much height does that sheepskin add to the seat? I have an old much leaner one from Aerostich (its synth) that I used to use on my old K100RS and K1200RS, but tried it and it doesn't fit well on the V100.

I think the napth on mine was 3/4". So I would guess maybe 1/4" or 3/8", not much when compressed.

Good top know thanks, might be ordering one in the winter. Just an FYI regarding comfort, I've noticed the seat is far more comfortable when wearing my leather pants (Vanson perfs) than when wearing simple jeans -essentially the opposite when on my other bikes.

Hi MGrego. Is the Norge screen a direct fit?
Thanks

Unfortunately no, I had to drill 4 new holes. I just plugged the original holes with black finishing washers and bolts. I had the Norge screen left over and lying on the shelf, so I just did it as an experiment. I liked the overall shape and curvature of it enough to give it a try. --In my opinion, the Norge windscreen is a nice esthetic shape for the V100. I haven't warmed up the the aftermarket windscreen shapes I've seen with the angular corners, so just trying something different. The wind protection is only a little superior to the V100 stock screen, but I'm happy with it because of the looks. The wind is directed right under my chin with non-turbulent air around the helmet.

Thank you for the info.

Word of warning. Do not try to adjust that gigantic windshield on your V100 while underway.

The forces encountered by wind resistance will most certainly burn up the movement motor.

Got side cases.

Mounted these Hepco-Becker "X-Core" cases and H-B tail rack today. The cases use the "C-Bow" system. Top loading and watertight, but not very large.

Looks good, nice compact design. Good choice.

I got the Guzzi sides, when mounted and looking from the rear I thought I might need a "wide load" sign. But I'll appreciate the amount of space when packing. But wondering how water proof they are?

Wide load? 😅
I know what you mean.
However I think the impression is deceptive due to the combination of slim rear and wide side cases (and case profiles).
But the side cases are fitted very close to the bike, so in measurement the total wide is probably normal.
Anyhow I like the OEM cases, they are sturdy and water tight.

I'm glad to hear they are water tight. The width across the sides of the V is roughly 36 inches, the width of my 2013 Triumph Trophy is 37 inches. Yet the V looks wider. Must be an optical conclusion. LOL

I have a Triumph Trophy, which has what I believe has the best, most secure, and easiest to use luggage system on any bike ever.

The bags were carefully designed as part of the motorcycle, not as an add-on, and so they don't stand out or look out of proportion in any way....

The 13 and newer Trophy is a great sport touring bike. I've put nearly 80,000 miles on mine and it still runs great albeit it's getting a bit heavy for my 73 year old body. I still get it out for a spin now and then.

Looking forward to riding the V on a 10 day stay in Kentucky right after Labor Day. Doesn't have quite the comfort nor the wind protection of the Triumph but it is a lot lighter.

Hello !! Has anyone tried to install the V100 Stelvio Engine guard, into the V100 Mandello?

According to the schematics there are also some mounting accessories behind the guard, but mounting holes should be the same.

Any feedback welcome. thanks.

Very likely a fit to both models if the engine block is unchanged from Mandello.
But why the Stelvio engine guard?
There are several engine protection plates available for the Mandello already 🙂
