UpMap Q&A

Ahh I see. I guess I'll just have to wait till I get to 6k miles which will probably be in a couple of years 😄. Thanks

Appolgies if this has already been asked.
If I buy the Up Map unit and sell my bike can I keep the Up Map unit and use it on the replacement bike or is it locked to the bike?
Also how well does it work on an E5 V85TT with std set up, no mods at all? Does it improve that fluffy feeling at low revs?
Thanks Martin

No, it cannot be used on another motorcycle, as you say, it is locked to your bike.

Installed the T800 UpMap a few days ago, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the difference in throttle response, especially below 3k RPM!

One issue I did have was with my Android and the UpMap application. It was completely unable to 'find' the T800 - the Bluetooth icon would come up, it would go to the 'founded device' screen, and then nothing would happen. The GTM video AND the GM instructions both say it can take awhile, so I left it there while I was doing a few other things on the bike. Even after 15-20 minutes, there was still nothing for me to select. I used my wife's iPhone and it took MAYBE 5s for the device to pop up once the app hit that screen...

My phone is a Google Pixel 6, up to date on firmware, etc, and the app was downloaded within two days of attempting the install. Has anyone else run into this problem? Thankfully, I wasn't planning to mount it permanently to track rides and whatnot, so it's certainly not the end of the world.

To answer your question, I didn't have any problem with Android/UpMap. I didn't try to pair the device to the phone first, I just did everything from within the app. Android found the device in maybe 10 seconds?

Thanks for the reply! When I reference the Bluetooth icon, I was referring to the one that pops up on the app. After it didn't work on multiple occasions, I tried to connect through the phone's Bluetooth settings to no avail. As much as it pains me to say it, the iPhone saved the day haha

Anyone successfully contacted upmap? Having a few fuelling issues with the map I got for my v85tt and hoping to contact them to help them make a refinement to the map as it would seem a lot of us v85 owners are experiencing the bucking sensation. Email contact on their website won't work either:tmi:....if only we could get Todds upmap's

Yep, same thing. I was waiting for the app to find the device for a long time and nothing was happening. I started the procedure again from the very start and still didn't work. Started again 3rd time and it found the device very quickly.

Not tried to contact upmap, I can say tho that the distributor in Europe, Guareschi Moto, aren't great communicators. I believe the V85 UpMap maps ( branded GCorse) were developed by them, but I'm not certain. My V85 certainly runs smooth with the map I have in and much better than stock. I don't get any bucking. Mines an E5 with arrow headers and Y pipe, stock muffler. K&N. I omitted to take the tape off the second airhole in the filter box lid so that's still in place.

ohhhh interesting Kurt...I have much the same setup as you here in Aussie land apart from a mistral muffler and get bucking at 3,000rpm after more than 1/4 throttle...I assumed it was an overly rich issue - aka too much fuel for the plugs to burn. But interesting you still have the tape on one side of your airbox...I have drilled 3 x 2cm holes on my airbox to see if it helps with the bucking...if not then easy to plug with grommets but in my past experience bucking usually indicated a rich condition rather than lean....been in the UK im assuming you chose the EU map??

Nothing related to UpMap has been easy on the communication front, including GC. No need to guess, yes, GC supplied the map data to UpMap for their portal. You'll see an earlier post here for our attempts to come to an agreement to do so which fell (faceplant) flat.

Guys, this thread isn't for mapping talk please. This is a simple Q&A thread regarding the device itself.
That said, quick reply: Do not guess on mapping. There is no overly rich condition associated with any part of a stock or UpMaps for the E4 or E5 models.
I will not chat further on this here, and this will all get deleted.

I think given his huge investment in money, equipment, time, and training, and also that he sells turnkey solutions for fueling issues, that Todd asking that fueling not be bantered around at GuzziTech, seems unquestionably reasonable to me. I support him wholeheartedly on this.

This is no game to him. He has serious $$$ invested in his offerings. Having owned my own motorcycle workshop, I can completely understand.

Glad it finally worked for you! I started over multiple times with no resolution... Weird.
