UpMap Q&A

So I’ve been thinking about trading in my V7 for a V85 or V100 at my local dealer but I have used the UpMap device on my bike. Does anyone have a similar experience that can share some input on what I could do here? Would reloading the original map onto the bike to prevent a potential future owner from bringing it in to get work done and bricking the ECU work? It doesn’t seem like there’s an easy way to transfer the log in information to a different person and even sending a note in Upmap’s contact page yielded no replies.

I've been wondering the same thing but it would feel like a crime to revert it to the trash stock tune. The UpMap is locked to the ECU but I think I saw you can transfer ownership. Maybe you can transfer it to the dealer and they can transfer it to whoever buys it?

It totally would feel like a crime haha knowing how well the V7 runs and feels right now only for it to be neutered for a future owner would be a disservice to the bike!

I also just read in their installation guide about transferring ownership but would have to contact them which seems to be a tough ask considering I haven't had success getting replies from them haha would be much easier if we could just change the account log in within the app.

You can transfer ownership of the UpMap to a new owner, and/or reset the map to stock, yes. I'd have to confirm the sequence to reset the device if you want to use it on a new bike. If you purchased it from us, write us direct email; info @guzzitech.com with your order # for more info.

Thanks Todd! Email sent.

Hi Todd

If one buys the UpMap device and map from up-map.it for a V9 is the mapping the same as the one you supply, I am based in the EU so it would make more sense to buy locally for tax and import reasons.

Can anyone direct me please to a link that shows how to install the UpMap supplied by GTM to my 2022 V7 850. Nothing came with the UpMap outside of the box and its contents but no actual instruction. I enquired to the GTM sales address and they supplied me with a link back to the shop page for the UpMap , the only link I can see there takes me back to the forum where I can see lots of detail that doesn't actually pertain to my bike. I recall at one stage watching a U tube or video clip on it relating to the V7 850 but cant find that again. I'm on the other side of the world and not wanting to proceed until I'm confident on what I'm doing here.
thanks

There are some links in the UpMAP Q&A thread. I am studying the process now because I am about to install/activate it on my V85TT.

The first post in that thread has links to instructions and video.

Installed the T800 UpMap a few days ago, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the difference in throttle response, especially below 3k RPM!

One issue I did have was with my Android and the UpMap application. It was completely unable to 'find' the T800 - the Bluetooth icon would come up, it would go to the 'founded device' screen, and then nothing would happen. The GTM video AND the GM instructions both say it can take awhile, so I left it there while I was doing a few other things on the bike. Even after 15-20 minutes, there was still nothing for me to select. I used my wife's iPhone and it took MAYBE 5s for the device to pop up once the app hit that screen...

My phone is a Google Pixel 6, up to date on firmware, etc, and the app was downloaded within two days of attempting the install. Has anyone else run into this problem? Thankfully, I wasn't planning to mount it permanently to track rides and whatnot, so it's certainly not the end of the world.
Having this issue with mine, despite 8 attempts now , nothing, battery is fine, wifi good etc. just refuses to go past the 'founded device' screen then nothing happens , longest I left it was 30mins! then recharged bike battery. Anyone got any suggestions?

So is your device connected to the UpMap?

That is the issue the Samsung is not seeing the UpMap device, its saying its found the device but then freezes.
Sent email to you yesterday also Todd on this with a photo

you must have both location and wifi enabled on your mobile phone, when you open the upmap application it will ask you to enable bluetooth

Make sure you have good reception and dont stand too far away from the device. If I have crappy reception my applications spazzes out and says it doesn't recognise the VIN. What model Samsung do you have?

Samsung Model Galaxy A31
Im going to give it a go this weekend using sons I Phone and see if that works, outside of that Im out of options.
Thanks for the reply

Ok sorted, got it to work on I Phone, no luck on Samsung for some reason, but sorted and loaded,
Thanks for everyone's input.

Has anyone seen Upmap provide a code in the OBD Errors page? Or does this feature even work for the V7 Special 850?

UpMap cannot reset the service icon. I have yet to see an error code for my V7 850 but that’s because it hasn’t yet triggered one I imagine. The function is available and I see no reason why it wouldn’t work.

To be clear, the “check engine light” will turn off after clearing the error codes and turning the ignition switch off and back on. To my knowledge, the “wrench” symbol that indicates the need for routine maintenance (oil change, etc.) cannot be reset using UpMap.
