UpMap Q&A

Is anyone else experiencing some pretty sharp bucking at idle when up to speed? I can feather the clutch out from a dead stop with no throttle and it's smooth as can be right up until I've let the clutch out all the way. At that point, if I don't apply throttle it turns into a bucking bronco. Same happens when I slow down on a closed throttle to idle - it's fine right up until it gets down to idle and then gets funky.

I know this is a super fun 'feature' of the EFI on many bikes, but wondering if anyone's has gotten worse post-UpMaps.

I presume you should wait until the engine is run in before changing any ECU settings.

Why would you presume this? Decades of info on this site on why this simply isn't the case... try a search here on Fueling, and click on the STORE tab above, and read the reviews here.
Which model do you own?

I'm picking up a V9 Bobber in a few days, I guess I was asking was because the dealer would be doing the first service after the 1,500 km run in.

I think that you can assume that the current FACTORY map was in place during PDI. Most dealers are aware that up mapping is happening and why. Soo you can tell the service person to leave the map alone when they give it the first service. Some may insist on reinstalling the factory map. I have always had the first service done at the dealer with a new bike, but never ever return. My choice would be to wait to upmap, but that isn't a gold standard....just me.

If they update the map, they update the map... You have the ability to switch it back very quickly. If it's a big concern, you can put your stock map back on and pull the T800 off before you head to the dealer for service.

That's my plan for service. 5 minutes work.

Trying to access the up map website and app.

Cannot access either the app or the site from my android phone, ipad, or laptop.

Anyone else having this issue with UpMap?

Might be dumb question but I have my UpMap hooked up but was wondering if you guys have it permanently connected and if you do how you have it secured under the seat?

I occasionally connect mine before riding. I have a Quadlock charging iPhone mount that allows me to use my phone as a satnav, via various apps. With the UpMap connected I can toggle between one of my satnav apps and the UpMap app, showing live data. Most of that is already shown on the bike’s instruments. The most useful additional information is voltage. Other stuff is mostly “fancy that” eg precise revs (eg 4352rpm), more accurate than the tachometer but of minor interest. Then there’s the inclinometer- possibly handy for bragging down at the pub if not a grown-up…Choice of kph/mph - handy when touring on the continent.
As for mounting it I just test in on the mudguard - I have a lot of additional wiring there - battery charger lead, power to Quadlock mount. No problem so far, though I only use it occasionally and normally keep it in its box for map/unit updates.

Does the same device work for both E4 and E5? The UpMap in the store only says E5.
Already answered above. Wording has been revised on the purchase page.
